Repair or replace?

Siding fails in a few predictable ways here: hail dents and cracks, boards swelling or rotting where water collects, and gaps where caulk has dried out. If the damage is limited to one wall or a few boards, a repair is usually enough. If the problems are spread around the house, replacement often costs less over time.

Permit rules for siding are mixed across the area. Arlington, DeSoto and Rowlett don’t require a permit to replace existing siding, and St. Paul normally doesn’t either. Highland Village does. Arlington also requires a permit for stucco or EIFS.

Siding questions

Do I need a permit for new siding?

It depends on the city. Arlington, DeSoto and Rowlett don’t require one to replace existing siding; Highland Village does.

Can you match my existing siding?

We try to. With older siding an exact match isn’t always possible, and we’ll tell you before work starts.
